Decommissioning

Permitting to close-out, both sides of the equator.

Twenty-three projects delivered in 2023 alone, including the first offshore campaign in Brazil.

What We Do

Planning, engineering, and execution - not just the paperwork.

  • Planning & Regulatory

Asset retirement obligations (ARO) and estimating. Campaign and individual project planning, BSEE decommissioning plans, applications for permit to modify and well P&A, and platform and pipeline abandonment permits. NEPA compliance and environmental assessments, data retrieval, scheduling, vendor management, and final documentation to regulators.

  • Removal Engineering

Engineered lifting plans and removal rigging, pipeline stripping calculations, material barge ballast plans, tie-down and seafastening design, transportation and motions analysis, component lift weight and center-of-gravity analysis, padeye and lifting trunnion design, piece-small cut plans and weight takeoffs, and HAZID / HAZOP of procedures and plans.

  • Assessment & Execution

Offshore condition and readiness surveys, environmental impact assessments, technical reviews of equipment and vessels, and design checks on structural and marine aspects. Stability of removal assets intact and damaged, station keeping analysis, storyboards and lift planning, and project execution and site management.

Brazil

National Operator Decommissioning Campaign

Engineering lead on the first ever Brazilian offshore decommissioning project - removal of three fixed jacket platforms. Study of removal options and concepts, global and local structural strength analysis to API RP 2A WSD and AISC, vessel stability intact and damaged, motions analysis developing barge RAOs and QTFs, station keeping, structural lifting analysis, seafastening, lift plans, weight takeoffs, and piece-small cut plans.

Deepwater West Africa

Deepwater Subsea Decommissioning

Engineering assessment and removal support to recover nine mooring lines (chain-polyester-chain), five static infield umbilicals, 34 electrical and hydraulic flying leads, three manifolds with associated guideposts, and 14 rock dumping wellheads. Decommissioning basis of design, static and dynamic recovery analysis, seafastening and grillage design, deck strength analysis, storyboards, lift planning, and decommissioning procedures.
